Lemanagh Castle

Lemanagh Castle is a well-known landmark on the road between Corofin and Kilfenora. Here are represented two contrasting periods in architecture, an early 17th Century fortified house with mullioned windows, built on to an oblong tower dating from the late 15th Century. Lemaneagh castle will always be associated with Maura Ruadh McMahon, wife of Conor O'Brien, who is still celebrated in legend.
